Deceased Estates Clearance

Clearing deceased estates requires care, discretion, and understanding.

All circumstances are different.

-          Clearing a room quickly in an aged care facility;

-          Clearing a deceased person’s unit or home when the task is too overwhelming for family or there is only the executor to do it;

-          Assisting family to clear the estate themselves by providing consultation on what decisions need to be made, direction on agencies that might be needed and assistance with the clearance of specific or tricky items.

Sometimes a family just needs a game plan to reduce the burden of doing it themselves in a coordinated manner.  We can help.

Deceased estate costs are between $85/hr - $130/hr plus gst.

This cost reflects the knowledge, experience and skill we bring to the role as well as our speed, efficiency  and deployment of the resources for removal.

Travel costs are sometimes added depending on the location and length of the task.

Other costs such as skip bins, advertising of items, etc maybe required.

Minimum of 4 hour booking.

Recent Example

A three bedroom independent retirement villa owned by someone with no children and only elderly family, required sorting of a lifetime of personal items, paperwork, clothing,   extensive travel, hobby & collection items and furniture, electronics and computers.

The main request from the elderly executor was that, as much as possible, items be donated to specific charities or sold and the money given to the charities. Minimal landfill was requested and specific collection items be given to related interest groups. 

This situation took 3 days of 7 hours to do the initial clearance ready for the cleaners to attend and 8 hours follow up over several weeks to locate and organise delivery of items to certain groups.  Two small skip bins ($250 each) were required and two trips to refuse site with specific items such as mattresses (payment to tip was $80).

House Clearance

Whether it is an end of lease clearance for a property agent or a house clearance when someone is going into care, Burden Busters can clear the property efficiently ready for the property to be cleaned. We follow your direction on what needs to be disposed of, sold or donated. Garages, sheds and yards can be included.

System Navigation for Senior Persons

Are you wanting to sort out aged care assistance options to stay independent but don’t want to burden anyone?

Are your children telling you to sort out Centrelink, Aged Care Services, Pension benefits, etc but don’t offer to sit beside you to help you?

System navigation can be extremely challenging for anyone as much of the requirements of services we need as we age are online or at the other end of a lengthy phone wait, it can be very challenging to understand what is available and how to access it.

System navigation usually starts with a chat about what you know, what you want, success or trouble achieving it in the systems so far and what you would like to set in place.

System navigation is a skilled task that typically costs between $95/hr - $150/hr.  A minimum of two hours is required.

Recent example

A senior client recognised that she was needing to reduce her spending on private contractors to maintain her home and garden as her personal funds were diminishing and she noticed decreased independence on several tasks. She was very determine to get extra assistance without having her family intervene.  Burden Busters assisted her to navigate the govt systems to have a needs assessment completed, a care package allocated with knowledge of her out of pocket expenses and select a service provider.  The client was an intelligent woman of 71 who had become overwhelmed with the processes, acronyms and complexities of a system telling her she could do it on her own as it was simple.  She was very happy to report to her family what had been put in place and how her burden had been lifted.  This burden took an initial three hours including establishing registration with some department systems.  A further one hour phone consult and 2 x half hour phone consults as the process unfolded.  Interestingly her children said they would be happy to pay Burden Busters to assist when she required further processes completed at a later date.
